Bruins face critical offseason after collapse, Swayman trade chatter emerges amid sweeping changes

NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman hints in his 32 Thoughts Podcast that teams could inquire about goaltender Jeremy Swayman as Bruins regroup after last-place finish.

The Boston Bruins’ 2024-25 season ended in a tie for last in the Eastern Conference with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Now, General Manager Don Sweeney faces a critical offseason with big moves likely on the horizon.

On the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Elliotte Friedman suggested that Sweeney may receive calls about Swayman’s availability.

I think that the whole Swayman thing (contract), it kind of blew up their season before it started, and they never got on the rails

said Friedman.

With Swayman’s no-move clause not active until 2026-27, NHL teams that need a starting goaltender could see an opportunity.

Despite interest, trading Swayman seems unlikely.

After moving Linus Ullmark last summer and signing Swayman to an $8.25 million AAV deal, Boston can’t afford another major goalie shakeup.

Not everybody will look at it this way, but I do look at this year as a lost year for Swayman… just go out and be ready to be a great goalie.

Teams will inquire, but whether GM Sweeney listens, is another matter.
