The recently fired Ducks coach is campaigning for the Bruins job, but it’s unclear if the Original Six club is even considering him.

Cronin wants a shot behind the Bruins bench — it’s just not clear he’ll get one.
After parting ways with Anaheim, Greg Cronin is looking for another shot — and he has one destination in mind.
Boston.
Speaking with The Boston Globe’s Kevin Paul Dupont, the Massachusetts native didn’t hold back about how much he’d love to coach the Bruins.
I’m a coach, right?
Cronin said.
All these openings, I’ll throw my hat and see what comes back.
I mean, heck, I’d be doing handsprings and jumping over rainbows if I got the Bruins’ job.
I’m a Boston guy, and for a Boston guy, that’s hitting the lottery times 10!
It’s a clear and emotional pitch from a guy who’s proud of where he’s from, but passion alone might not be enough.
Cronin’s Ducks run was short, but not without progress
Cronin spent two seasons with the Anaheim Ducks, posting a 35-37-10 record in his second year.
For Anaheim, that was actually their best season since 2019.
Still, the team wanted a clean slate and decided to make a change.
He’s available now, and while he’s made it known he wants the Bruins job, there’s no sign yet that Boston feels the same way.
Bruins are casting a wide net, but Cronin’s not on the shortlist, yet

Boston’s coaching search is already underway.
Interim head coach Joe Sacco is still in the picture, though his chances of keeping the job seem to be fading.
Names like Rick Tocchet have been linked to the opening, and the team is clearly doing its homework.
So far, there’s been no report that Cronin is on their radar.
Is Boston looking for a fresh start or familiar ground?
The Bruins want to bounce back and fast.
Whoever they hire will be expected to lead a playoff-caliber group and help reset the tone after a season that didn’t meet expectations.
Cronin has ties to the area and plenty of coaching experience, but whether he fits what Boston’s looking for right now is up in the air.
This isn’t just about desire, it’s about timing, trust, and track record.
Cronin’s door is wide open. We’re just waiting to see if Boston’s opens in return.
