Brad Marchand sets Stanley Cup Final record in Panthers’ dramatic Game 2 win

Brad Marchand came through with two massive goals, one in regulation and another in double OT, to give the Florida Panthers a thrilling Game 2 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

Panthers ride Marchand’s playoff poise to even the Stanley Cup final

The Florida Panthers needed someone to take charge in Game 2. Brad Marchand delivered.

The 36-year-old winger, known for his big-game instincts, did exactly what he’s done for years: scored when it mattered most.

He not only found the back of the net once, but did it again, in double overtime, sending the building into chaos and the Stanley Cup Final into a 1–1 deadlock.

Marchand became the first player in NHL history to score a shorthanded goal and overtime goal in the same Stanley Cup Final game,

according to Sportsnet Stats.

Marchand’s goals were near mirror images, two breakaways, two five-holes

His first tally started with a slick pass from Anton Lundell. Marchand got loose, gathered speed, and broke in alone.

With Stuart Skinner squared up, Marchand slipped the puck through the goalie’s legs for a third-period lead.

Fast-forward to double overtime—same setup. Lundell fed him again. Another breakaway. This time, Marchand flipped it to his backhand.

Again, five-hole. Again, unstoppable.

Playoff numbers growing, but impact goes far beyond stats

In 19 playoff games, Marchand now has 7 goals, 17 points, and a sparkling plus-14 rating. But the numbers aren’t what stand out.

What matters is when and how he’s showing up. His timing, leadership, and control of the moment were unmistakable in Game 2.

He wasn’t forcing things, just waiting, and then striking when the Oilers blinked.

From Boston legend to Florida clutch piece, Marchand keeps writing history

This isn’t new for Marchand.

Bruins fans have seen it for more than a decade. But for Florida, it’s a fresh chapter.

They brought him in for leadership and playoff pedigree.

He gave them both, and now the series is tied, thanks to a performance that was as calm as it was clutch.

For all the changes this Panthers team has gone through, some things remain simple: when Brad Marchand gets his moment, he usually finishes it.
